About Amy Eir Stocky

Amy is a self-taught artist who has never let her lack of formal education keep her from pursuing her goals, as an entrepreneur, a journalist, photographer, writer and artist.

Does this have to be in the third person to count?

Hello, my name is Amy.

I am an artist, author I am a creative entrepreneur, and I have had a wide variety of strange jobs and gigs over the years. From the worst industrial job to documentarian. Publisher to beach motel maid. Award winning marketer and baker. This is me.

My artistic pursuits include my first love of photography, mixed media and collage, and assemblage sculpture in a method taught to me by the world renown artist Dave Archer. Over the last several years, my own photos have come more into play in my collage work, as I have been rather obsessively creating mixed media portraits of trees.

Nature has long been one of my favorite subjects, as has urban decay. For me, nature is something sacred, maybe it was the magical energy emanating from the few and far between “Forest Preserves” that I frequented as a child on the south side of Chicago.

The trees and trails stood in stark contrast to the monstrous factories towering all around, and more than once I’d lost an entire afternoon as a teenager, smoking weed, tripping or sneaking beers between the trees.

I make very fine Vanilla Extract and extoll the virtues of the exotic Vanilla Bean at: WorldsGreatestVanilla.com.

In a past life, I co-created this book and film, ‘The Suffering and Celebration Of Life In America’. There are some amazing interviews with wise sages in this book, we gave it away free, still do. I am proud of both of these works and all of the short videos on the youtube channel ‘A Year At The Wheel‘. The shorts were created while traveling in 2007-8. The book and film were released in November 2012, we spoke at Harvard University in April 2013.
